📍Personal Journey
Hi, I’m Mivi! Growing up in West Wales was pretty cool—imagine living in the middle of nowhere since you were three. As a teen, I loved history (thanks to an awesome teacher) and gaming. I was into reading, playing the flute, and singing in my county choir. I even joined my school’s D&D group in the library a few times! I repeated a year of of sixth form but due to mental health issues, I decided it wasn't for me. So I switched directions, going to college to do an extended diploma in Creative Media! This was really fun and where I actually felt like I belonged and was good at things. I also had a YouTube channel where I taught myself how to edit. After college, I went to university in Bristol to study Film & Television for both my BA and MA. I was a Student Ambassador, Course Rep and Peer Mentor while I was there! I also was a member of the Film Society, Eurovision Society and Welsh Society.
💼 Academic & Professional Experience
After university, I dipped my toes in marketing but soon realized my true passion lay in the video game industry. Now, I’m a Community Manager for indie game developers and a Content Coordinator for a non-profit. My job involves managing social media, editing videos, designing graphics, and running game nights and streams. It’s super fun!
😍 Passions
As a teen, I was obsessed with Pokémon, the Twilight series, Stardew Valley, Wicked, Portal 2, and Bioshock 2. Now, I’m into WandaVision/Scarlet Witch, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, RPGs, life sim games, and deep video game lore. I still love cozy gaming experiences and musical theatre, especially Hamilton and Wicked!
📺 Favorite Entertainment
I love watching shows like Schitt's Creek, What We Do in the Shadows, Community, Parks & Rec, WandaVision, and New Girl. Some of my favorite movies are Scott Pilgrim Vs The World and The Time Traveler's Wife. When it comes to games, I’m all about My Time at Sandrock, Stardew Valley, and anything indie and cute. Music-wise, I love Paramore, Sammy Rae, Chappell Roan, and Taylor Swift.
🐈 Animal Lover
I adore sea otters and have had several pets, including my current Syrian hamster named Gerwig (after Greta Gerwig). She’s a bit shy but super cute!
🎓 Teaching and Passion Areas at Uncommon
Stardew Valley Club: I've been playing this game since it first came out! I used to be absolutely obsessed with playing this, often waking up early to play before college.
Roblox Club: I'm always learning about games on Roblox, especially from the lovely people in our club!
Film Production Club: I’m excited to teach editing and filming skills, drawing from my background in film production and television. I taught myself to edit when I was 13/14 to start my own YouTube channel!
Social Club: Creating a supportive community where neurodivergent individuals can connect and have fun is something I’m passionate about!
