Parent Session I 8pm Wednesday 19th Apr

A 90 min session on confidence and connection

EndedOnline (Zoom)

Service Description

This session is designed for any parent who wants to learn the science and techniques behind our confidence and connection sessions. Over the course of 90 minutes we'll go over the fundamentals taught in all 3 confidence and connection sessions (for more information see below) and give you the chance to explore the research and techniques behind each session with the Uncommon team and other parents like you. Sessions will be led by Sascha and Kirsten. Sascha is our lead facilitator and has led wellbeing sessions for hundreds of neurodivergent families. Kirsten is Uncommon's research lead, and a specialist in 'what works' for neurodivergent wellbeing. This single session will review and explore topics covered in all sessions including: Session 1, Rebuilding Confidence - We’ll be reflecting on our own unique strengths and what they bring to the world. - We will be working on getting comfortable and settled in. There are no expectations on young people. If they do feel comfortable to take part we will support them to do so through a range of means including messaging, and interactive experiences. Session 2, Understanding Anxiety - We’ll explore why and how anxiety can be different for ADHD and autistic people, and different ways we might approach anxiety and work with our brains. - We’ll talk about thinking styles and explore tools to help us in a variety of situations. Session 3, Feeling Positive about Relationships - We’ll be discussing how being autistic or ADHD can impact making friends, maintaining relationships, and being a part of a community. - We'll learn ways that we can build connections with others using our unique neurodivergent strengths. - We'll practice a couple of tools and techniques to help develop relationships that work for you. Session Facilitators: Sascha and Kirsten About Sascha Sascha is an experienced facilitator and coach with young people and has won awards for innovative work in schools.
