Uncommon has been a wonderful ‘anchor’ over the summer and now again through the transition back to school. Thank you all so much

Highly recommended! The understanding your brain course and the clubs have been such a great things for my ND child. The fact that all the facilitators are ND and great role models helps too. Just a brilliant, inclusive space. So glad we gave it try.

Highly recommend
My son loved the course. He found it very relatable and enjoyed the interactions with the facilitators and other young people. He felt inspired by the course content and talked lots about it afterwards. I also liked the way the course was delivered.

Understanding my Brain Course
My Son attended his first session online last night with Roshi. I'm so emotional writing this ... wow, just wow ... I've never seen him so engaged. When Roshi read out his comments and said his name he looked like he'd been given a lottery win.
He has been disengaged and isolated from everything for the last 2 years. He's traumatised from bullying, his skin condition and being terribly misunderstood. That one session last night visibly filled his chest with pride, he elbowed me out of the way so he could take over the key board and write in the chat. I have had to encourage him for the last 3 weeks to join a session. This was a huge step for him to even try and he is so happy that he did. He felt the achievement in that. He began the sessions curled up inside his own T-shirt hiding.
He responded to every question. They all spoke to who he is and how he experiences the world, and deeply resonated with him and he wanted to answer and share his experience for each one. It was the first time in a long time I heard him say 'that was really fun' 'I liked that alot'. He was like a new boy at the end.
Thank you so much, we all felt safe, as a mum observer and my son as participant, to be in that space yesterday. This single step has laid a solid foundation in his forward journey.
I am so grateful.

Honestly it’s briliant. My son enjoyed being able to hear from people who shared some of his experiences and to be able to interact in real time. He also enjoyed just having an hour a week, with me by his side, to explore who he is in a safe space.

My daughter got dressed up specially for the session (even though she wouldn't go on camera) this is the first time she's managed to participate in something with other children who are also neurodivergent. She's been feeling very isolated.

I was impressed and reassured by the knowledge and emphasis on evidence based practice. I was also impressed by Uncommon’s obvious passion to support this age group and willingness to offer your time, skill and energy.

Although nervous before each session, as the course went on those nerves diminished quickly. For me this is huge. After a year of Covid teaching online she'd had enough of video calls. But I think you may have changed her mind. They aren't all bad, and for this, a topic she is insecure about, not having to face others enabled her to have a more comfortable learning environment

I was very impressed with the whole experience. From sending a preparation video message which gave my daughter a clear idea of what to expect and minimised any anxiety, to neurodiversity positive content and lovely session leaders with first hand experience of any issues my daughter has experienced, I would highly recommend Uncommon sessions.

The session was incredible. The way the session was run was brilliant and the content was engaging. The ladies that led the session were amazing and understanding.
Without even seeing my daughter they were building her confidence which is literally rock bottom. I honestly can't rate it enough.

My daughter’s favourite part of the first session was the realisation that there are others experiencing school and life in a very similar way to her. She likes the NeuroCats and enjoys the vibe between the coaches and mentors.
She loves the way you use the app to elicit anonymous answers, and the fact that she doesn't have to speak or put the camera on.

I liked the way that the Uncommon team were able to discuss things with each other, and the young people however they chose to engage
So that it felt like an interactive session even when not everyone was actively taking part.

Taking part in clubs and the recent summer camp has been amazing for my son. The session leaders are incredibly positive, patient and above all inclusive. There’s never any pressure and they are so encouraging. The community is fantastic and shows such promise for growth. I cannot recommend Uncommon highly enough.

Inclusive validating and affirming
Inclusive sessions. You could be off screen, off camera and just interact via the chat. Whatever works for you. Sessions have been engaging and relaxing and the fact that they are run by neurodiverse people who share their experiences made for a really positive and validating experience. Can’t give this enough stars!

Great courses for neurodivergent youngsters, the facilitators are very kind and knowledgeable. It was very convenient that all the courses were online where my child felt safe and that he could choose to have his camera off if he felt overwhelmed.

He loves the use of the neuro cats and exploring how each one represents a part of how he feels. It was very interesting to him and he enjoyed telling his dad about them!
Also, acknowledging that neurodivergent people may experience anxiety in different ways to the 'norm' due to interception was extremely helpful and opened up conversations at home.
