Online video
summer camps designed around your neurodivergent child

Is your child a budding filmmaker? Do they love to make their own videos? This summer, they can spend a whole week doing exactly that - exploring and creating alongside other kids who get it just as much as they do at our Video Camp.

In this relaxed, creative camp, young people explore everything from planning and filming to editing and sharing their videos.

We'll cover capturing gameplay, storytelling techniques, and how to find your unique voice as a creator. There's the chance to work on your own projects or join in on group projects with no pressure to perform or share unless you want to.โ€‹
โ€‹

Whether your child is aiming for YouTube, making movies for fun, or just wants to try something new, we're here to help them bring their ideas to life on screen. In the past we've had young people make documentaries, film trailers and their own short films!

โ€‹

Our camps are designed specifically for neurodivergent young people aged 8–14, with or without a diagnosis. Small groups mean more individual attention, less noise and overwhelm, and 100% neurodivergent mentors who genuinely understand how ND kids think, play and thrive. Whether your child is a seasoned builder or still finding their style, they'll be met exactly where they are

What our families say

Taking part in clubs and the recent summer camp has been amazing for my son. The session leaders are incredibly positive, patient and above all inclusive. There’s never any pressure and they are so encouraging. The community is fantastic and shows such promise for growth. I cannot recommend Uncommon highly enough."

Is this camp right for my child?

Each camp runs across three days during the summer holidays, online via Zoom, kept deliberately small so every young person has space. Your child can join with camera on or off, mic on or off, or simply by watching.

Our mentors are neurodivergent themselves. They understand things like demand avoidance, rejection sensitivity, and social anxiety, and know how to hold space for young people who’ve had difficult experiences in group settings before

โ€‹

Run over Zoom in a calm, structured environment, the camp is designed to be accessible for those in burnout -  you choose how you engage, whether that's diving in, chatting, or quietly watching along.

Your child will have the chance to work on your own projects or join in on group challenges - with no pressure to perform or share unless they want to. Your child will:

โ€‹

๐ŸŽฅ Learn practical skills for video-making

๐ŸŽฎ Explore vlogging, filmmaking, capturing gameplay, tutorials, and more

๐Ÿง  Access a  low-pressure, creative space designed for neurodivergent minds

๐ŸŒŸ Led by mentors who get it - and support every kind of expression

Camp Schedule

The schedule of each camp changes slightly, but this should give you a sense of what your child will get up to each day.

โ€‹

As with our weekly clubs, we'll meet on Zoom before jumping into our secure server. Everyone is welcome to attend with cameras off or on, and to message or chat - whatever works for your child !

โ€‹

We'll also have quiet breaks, and a longer movement break halfway through session to help keep everyone comfortable.

FAQs

โ€‹

โ€‹

What will my child actually do in Video Camp?

Video Camp is a creative space for young people who are interested in video and content creation. Rather than following step-by-step instructions, campers are given time and encouragement to explore their own ideas, experiment, and collaborate. The focus is on enjoying the process - not producing a polished end result -  so your child can expect to play, share ideas, and make things without any pressure around stats or perfection.

โ€‹

What makes Video Camp different from other creative camps?

A few things set it apart. It's designed specifically for ND young people, so the environment is led by an ND mentor ho understands your child's interests and way of thinking. There's dedicated creative time built into every session, space to connect with like-minded peers, and a celebration at the end of each session to acknowledge what's been made. Campers can also just hang out - playing games like Garlic Phone - and info dumping is very much encouraged.

โ€‹

Does my child need any experience with video or content creation?

Not at all. Video Camp is a safe space for all levels - whether your child has been making videos for years or has never picked up a camera. The focus is on curiosity and creativity, not skill level. Everything is constantly evolving in the world of video and content creation, so even experienced creators will find plenty to explore and learn from their peers.

.โ€‹

What if my child needs to miss a day or leave early?

Not a problem - just drop us a note before the session so our mentors are aware. For Video camp specifically, missing a day won't affect your child's server access, and they'll be able to pick up where they left off when they're back.

โ€‹

How do I book a Video camp?

Camps are booked through the Momence app or using the links above. Once you've set up your account, you can browse available Video camps and book your child's place. Spaces fill up quickly, so we'd recommend booking as early as you can.

โ€‹

Can I get a refund?

We try to work as flexibly as possible with our families and we know that things come up. Our Video camps are very popular and sell out quickly, so please do give us as much notice as possible if you won't be able to attend. Get in touch at hello@uncommonminds.co.uk and we'll do our best to help.

โ€‹

โ€‹โ€‹

How do I test the connection before camp?

We strongly recommend testing everything at least a day before camp starts - it can take anywhere from 10 minutes to a little longer if any troubleshooting is needed. If you run into any issues, email us at hello@uncommonminds.co.uk and we'll help you get sorted in time.โ€‹
