Understanding My Brain: an online summer camp designed to support  your neurodivergent person to understand themselves

You know your child is capable of amazing things. But watching them struggle to understand themselves - why certain situations feel overwhelming, why friendships feel complicated, why school can be so exhausting - is hard.

โ€‹

Understanding My Brain is a three-day online camp designed to help neurodivergent young people aged 8–12 make sense of their unique minds.

Through guided sessions led by mentors who've navigated their own neurodivergence, your child will explore their strengths, build practical coping strategies, and - perhaps most importantly - discover they're not alone.

Why our UMB camp works so effectively

Our UMB camp takes our best-selling course and delivers it as a three-day camp - cominging psycho-education and peer support - the two most effective, evidence-backed techniques for supporting neurodivergent young people.

๐Ÿง  Psycho-Education helps teens understand their unique brains through fun, interactive sessions.

โ€‹

Research shows that improving young people's understanding of neurodivergent traits through psychology and neuroscience education, can improved self-esteem, reduce anxiety, and enhanced mental health.

๐Ÿค Peer Support enable young people to share their experiences, so they don't feel alone in their experiences.

โ€‹

Evidence shows that engaging with understanding peers (peer support) improves social satisfaction, increases self-acceptance, and a sense of belonging.

What our families say

Honestly it’s briliant. My son enjoyed being able to hear from people who shared some of his experiences and to be able to interact in real time. He also enjoyed just having an hour a week, with me by his side, to explore who he is in a safe space.

Is this camp right for my child?

Every neurodivergent child is different. But if yours often finds it hard to navigate friendships, manage overwhelming feelings, or understand why certain situations feel so much harder for them than for others - this camp was designed with them in mind.

โ€‹

Understanding My Brain is a space where young people aged 8–13 can explore how their minds work, without judgment and without pressure. If your child has ever felt like they don't quite fit in, this is a place where they will.

โ€‹

We do not require a diagnosis and many of our families have taken part before, during and after camps.

โ€‹

Our mentors are neurodivergent themselves. They understand anxiety, demand avoidance, and rejection sensitivity - and they know how to hold space for young people who've had difficult experiences in group settings before.

Camps are kept deliberately small, and your child can join with camera on or off, mic on or off, or simply by watching and using the text channel. How they participate can change from session to session -  whatever feels right on the day is absolutely fine.

"My daughter likes the mic and camera off format. It means a lot to have ND presenters who talk about their experiences. She likes the strengths-based approach and the neurocats."
