Online creative
summer camps designed around your neurodivergent child

Does your child lose themselves for hours in drawing, making, or crafting - but struggle to find others who get it? Do they find group activities stressful, or feel like their creativity doesn't quite fit the mould of a traditional art class? This summer, they can make freely, share without pressure, and finally meet their people.

โ€‹

In this relaxed three-day camp, young neurodivergent creatives come together to draw, craft, and make in whatever way feels right for them. There are no instructions to follow, no techniques to master, and no grades at the end - just the joy of creating alongside others who think and make the way they do.

Each day has a loose theme to spark ideas, but your child is always free to bring their own project and go wherever their imagination takes them.

โ€‹

Our camps are designed specifically for neurodivergent young people, with or without a diagnosis. Small online groups mean a quieter, lower-pressure environment - cameras off is always fine, and no one ever has to share their work if they don't want to.

Our mentors are 100% neurodivergent themselves, with real creative experience - so they don't just understand how ND kids think and feel, they've lived it. Whether your child is a total beginner or a seasoned maker, whether they want to chat or quietly create, they'll be met exactly where they are.

What our families say

Taking part in clubs and the recent summer camp has been amazing for my son. The session leaders are incredibly positive, patient and above all inclusive. There’s never any pressure and they are so encouraging. The community is fantastic and shows such promise for growth. I cannot recommend Uncommon highly enough."

Is this camp right for my child?

Each camp runs across three days during the summer holidays, online via Zoom, and kept deliberately small so every young person has room to breathe. Your child can join with camera on or off, mic on or off - or simply by being there and watching. However they show up is the right way.

โ€‹

Our mentors are neurodivergent themselves. They understand things like demand avoidance, rejection sensitivity, and social anxiety from the inside - and they know how to hold space for young people who've had difficult experiences in group settings before. There's no performance expected here, and no pressure to share unless your child wants to.

โ€‹

โ€‹

Over the three days, your child will have the chance to bring their own projects and work on them with the group. They'll explore different ways of making and expressing themselves, build real creative skills, and do it all in an environment that's been designed around how neurodivergent minds actually work.

Camp Schedule

The schedule of each camp changes slightly, but this should give you a sense of what your child will get up to each day.

โ€‹

As with our weekly clubs, we'll meet on Zoom before jumping into our secure server. Everyone is welcome to attend with cameras off or on, and to message or chat - whatever works for your child !

โ€‹

We'll also have quiet breaks, and a longer movement break halfway through session to help keep everyone comfortable.

Creative Camp Schedule

โ€‹

โ€‹Day 1 - Character Drawing (like in Character Drawing club optional tasks will be given, but they are very welcome to bring along their own drawing, most will probably do their own tbf)

Day 2 - Craft (actually a bit unsure on this bit, I can't decide whether I should plan a craft activity and then email parents to let them know that if they want to join in, then they will need xyz materials. Or to just leave it like Craft club where its very much "bring your own craft activity along and we will hang out and chat whilst doing our own individual project)

Day 3 - Drawing & Illustration (basically drawing that isn't just focused on characters, so like settings, comics

Each day will have a game and also a chance to show off any creations they've made. Also will be doing slido questions throughout the first half whilst we are all drawing.

FAQs

โ€‹

Does my child need any experience or special skills?

Not at all. Creative Camp is open to complete beginners and seasoned makers alike. There's no right or wrong way to create here -  the whole point is to make in whatever way feels natural to your child.

โ€‹

What materials do they need?

Whatever they have at home. Pens, paper, craft supplies - nothing specific is required, and there's no need to go out and buy anything. If your child has a favourite medium or project they're already working on, they're welcome to bring that along too.

โ€‹

What if my child doesn't want to share their work?

That's completely fine. Sharing is always optional. Activities are there to make it feel easier if they want to - never something they have to do.

โ€‹

What if my child loses interest or wants to do their own thing?

They're welcome to. The structure is loose by design, and bringing your own project is always an option. Our mentors are experienced at supporting young people who need to move at their own pace.

Does my child need to have their camera on? No. Camera off, mic off, or just watching along - all completely fine. Your child can engage in whatever way feels comfortable on the day.

โ€‹

What if my child needs to miss a day or leave early?

Not a problem - just drop us a note before the session so our mentors are aware. For Creative camp specifically, missing a day won't affect your child's server access, and they'll be able to pick up where they left off when they're back

โ€‹

Can I get a refund?

We try to work as flexibly as possible with our families and we know that things come up. Our Creative camps are very popular and sell out quickly, so please do give us as much notice as possible if you won't be able to attend. Get in touch at hello@uncommonminds.co.uk and we'll do our best to help.

โ€‹

โ€‹โ€‹

How do I test the connection before camp?

We strongly recommend testing everything at least a day before camp starts - it can take anywhere from 10 minutes to a little longer if any troubleshooting is needed. If you run into any issues, email us at hello@uncommonminds.co.uk and we'll help you get sorted in time.โ€‹
